As mentioned, the month began while I was at Bonaparte Lake on a fishing trip. June turned out to be hot and dry, breaking records for the area. Instead of the normal 37 mm of precipitation, this June had only 4! By the end of the month the lake and local rivers were already at end-of-August low levels and we were on stage 3 water restrictions. Barbeque season is definitely in full swing and beer is quenching my thirst. Lisa's mom, June, came for another visit and helped to plant many flowers and bushes. I am slowly covering the area around them with rocks transported from the dry creek bed nearby. During her visit, the area celebrated "Lake Days" and June enjoyed the small-town events, including a parade and a pancake breakfast. Shaun and I began construction of a cedar pergola, and Vecsey and I have spent more time in the hammock on the deck. At the end of the month, Lisa's dad, John, and his girlfriend, Inga, came for a visit. We showed them around the area and visited several beaches. To my surprise, Lisa joined them in swimming at Gordon Bay Provincial Park. No one swam more than Vecsey, though! We continue to enjoy dinners and visits with Shaun & Debbie, watching movies, and reading books. Lisa bought two "new" bikes and has enjoyed riding longer distances. We also got hooked on the television show, "Suits", and watched 4 seasons of episodes.

We began the month still on vacation in Turkey, and I ended the month at Bonaparte Lake on a guys' fishing trip. In between, we enjoyed improving weather and some good times at home. We were able to visit all four of our parents, my sister, and my niece before taking the ferry back to the island. The best part of returning home from holiday is always seeing Vecsey, though. As usual, we walked her a lot and spent as much time with her as possible. She is swimming more and more often as the days become warmer. We really enjoyed our vacation, but it was also nice to return to friends here in Honeymoon Bay and often look forward to evenings spent with Shaun & Debbie. We were able to transport 37 plants from Lisa's mom to our place, so I've spent a considerable amount of time transplanting bushes and flowers. I also built a raised vegetable garden which then required me to sift a lot of soil in order to fill it.
I joined Shaun and four others on a five night fishing trip to Bonaparte Lake, approximately 88 km north of Kamloops. The weather was great until the last full day so I actually spent more time in a boat than anticipated. I ended up catching six fish (two of which were kept), although I still refuse to "bonk" them. We drank too much and laughed a lot, so the trip was a success. I particularly enjoyed the sunsets over the lake, but wished I was sharing them with my wife. This was the longest that I've EVER been away from Lisa since I've known her, so I really missed her and couldn't wait to get home. While the boys were away, Lisa and Debbie kayaked, cycled, hiked, played tennis, and enjoyed brunch at "Saison" in Duncan.
