Spring has sprung and the seasons have changed, but we remain in a holding pattern, waiting for our old life to be resurrected. We continue to live very limited lives, lacking true freedom and opportunity. Our daily and weekly routines remained the same throughout this month. Adding to the feeling of gloom was the loss of Canada's Ultimate Hockey Dad. Wayne Gretzky has been my #1 sports idol since 1979, so I have always admired the man credited with developing his game. Of course we hiked Cobble Hill Mountain (twice) in March. Pizza and beer remains a favourite combination, while we continued to order Indian take-out for Lisa's virtual CDMS dinner meetings. We also hiked to the cross atop Mount Tzouhalem twice. March brought colour to our yard. The vast majority of our daily walks are done right from our doorway. As the pandemic persists, British Columbia has initiated "circuit breaker" restrictions, and we continue to employ a variety of coping techniques... Sports remained a big component of my entertainment this month, as I still haven't missed watching a Canucks game this season. The NBA All-Star game showcased the league's most exciting stars, while the NCAA basketball tournament previewed some future stars. The UFC 259 fight card was stacked and UFC 260 was compelling. Almost every evening we watched a movie. We also continued to watch television shows. Reading continued to provide some escapism as well. Julie Deschene rose early to capture this Cowichan Bay sunrise.
