The fall month of October was mostly surprisingly warm and sunny, allowing a continuation of summer activities like playing tennis, cycling (for Lisa), reading outside on the deck, and napping in a hammock. It meant that chores like pruning and cleaning our vinyl siding were done as comfortably as possible, too. |
We hiked up Cobble Hill Mountain three times. We cannot recall an October with such sustained great weather. The sea lions began to arrive earlier this year. Our daily walks continued to take us to the estuary, Bomford Beach, through the village, and all around our community. We returned to Victoria for Lisa's follow-up chiropractic visit, bought a weight bench from "Marketplace", and visited Michelle in Oak Bay. We made another trip up Mount Tzouhalem as well. We enjoyed good food as usual, including plenty of pizza (and despite not being photographed, roast beef for Thanksgiving). Lisa recognized a milestone birthday - I'm not sure she celebrated it, but we did enjoy plenty of cake! On Halloween we only had 32 trick-or-treaters, so we get to eat leftovers! October is a great month for sports. The NBA season tipped off and the Warriors look good, while the Canucks have had a nightmare start to their NHL season. The CFL regular season came to a close and the Lions are all set to host a playoff game, while the NFL season rolls along. The World Series is underway between the Phillies and the Astros and UFC 280 provided some entertainment, too. October's movie selections included thrillers and Halloween themes. We binge-watched both "Industry" and "City on a Hill" before moving on to (disappointing) "Monarch", "American Gigolo", and "Shantaram". I read six more novels.
