The first half of the month brought massive amounts of rain, but towards the end of the month, we finally started to enjoy sustained lovely weather. Lisa and I took advantage by running, biking, and especially hiking under the beautiful blue skies. We even read, suntanned, and napped on the deck! The combination of rain and sunshine brought the Spring blooms out in full force and made it necessary to do pruning and weeding around the yard. |
The best part of this month was hosting guests from Australia (even if they could only stay one night). It was wonderful to see Mary again in person, and meeting Lausanne and Alana felt like reconnecting with old friends, too. We were lucky to be able to hike Mesachie Mountain together and to show them Gordon Bay Provincial Park. It was fun talking about anything and everything with people who relish the moment and cherish life. It's too bad they live so far away that visits will be infrequent, but it's nice to look forward to seeing friends in Australia. Cheers to good food, good times, great friends, and making memories to last a lifetime! The most satisfying part of this month was seeing significant progress made in finally turning our house into our home. Our new refrigerator finally arrived and we found someone to tile our kitchen backsplash. We replaced the horizontal blinds in the living room and kitchen. The new plantation-style white blinds and our new address sign look really sharp! Now that we no longer need to use our formal room as a cooler nor as a storage locker, we were able to hang the drapes, the tapestry, and some photos. We unpacked boxes and filled the book shelves. Our home now looks the way we envisioned! We spent Good Friday with Shaun and Debbie, exploring the area and geocaching for the first time. Later, we enjoyed a fantastic dinner at their place. Vecsey celebrated her thirteenth birthday on the 28th - despite the inevitable aging process, she remains our little, baby girl. Everyday, Lisa and I look out upon Bald Mountain from our kitchen windows. Finally, we got around to conquering the network of trails that allowed us to look down upon our home from atop Bald Mountain. We could not have asked for better weather to do it, either; we had perfectly clear blue skies and 22 degrees of warm sunshine! We continue to feel blessed to live what we consider the good life.

Yes, we did have rain in February, but we also had magnificent, sunny days. We hiked Mesachie Mountain twice and enjoyed watching a huge bald eagle soar above the lake. The weather afforded us afternoons on the deck that even included suntanning! Some days, we had both rain and sunshine, so we witnessed MANY rainbows over the lake. When the sun shone, we walked; we biked; we ran; we hiked. During the rainy times, we did yoga inside. As usual, we watched many movies. We also got hooked on "Shameless" and watched all six seasons. June visited again and we continued to enjoy meals and drinks with friends. We celebrated Valentine's, Family, and Pink Shirt days. We also continued to make progress on improving our home, replacing vertical blinds, ordering horizontal blinds, and finally finding mosaic tiles for our kitchen. March should see more significant changes finalized.
