July always begins with celebrating our wonderful nation. On July 2nd, Lisa injured her back simply moving a kitchen stool. This caused a lot of pain, discomfort, and inconvenience. She missed only one walk, but was very limited in her movement for quite some time. We still ended up hiking Cobble Hill Mountain three times in July. Most of our time was spent at home. After a cold Spring, we experienced extended hot weather the second half of July. Most blooms were a month behind schedule, but appreciated when they arrived nonetheless. I enjoyed the company of birds (especially the hummingbirds) and butterflies while relaxing in our hammock and on the deck. We were happy to celebrate our friend Michelle's 50th birthday with her. Over the course of the month, I also enjoyed chatting over beers with our furnace repairman, Mark, Lisa's colleague, Michael, and neighbours, Alan and Octavian. We played more tennis, and Lisa continued to cycle. We walked a lot, including two trips to the estuary, one to Shawnigan Lake, and one to Bomford Beach. I continue to keep my eyes peeled for curiosities and natural beauty. We attended the CDMS & The Cowichan Valley Division of Family Practice Family Fun Day BBQ with The Brazen Fork catering and plenty of ice cream treats at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds. We went to see The County Line at Music in the Park. I swam at Bright Angel Park. The UFC book-ended the month with great cards and the Lions won two of their three games. There were very few new movies available to watch. We began binge-watching the series "Billions" at the beginning of the month... and are already on season six! I took more time to read during July.
