The vast majority of our time continues to be spent at home. Not only is international travel still off the table, non-essential travel outside of our own health region is still not permitted. The "Wandering Wiebe" moniker used to refer to our globe-trotting, but for far too long now, it merely refers to our daily walks. We walked in Duncan a few times. Lisa continues to volunteer for LifeLine. We visited Bright Angel Regional Park again. We enjoyed watching the Canada Geese goslings on our first trip to Bomford Beach this month. On our second visit, we ate salmonberries with our packed drinks. We wandered up and down several local mountains, including Cobble Hill Mountain (twice). Although we are very aware how fortunate we are compared to so many people (especially around the globe), some days are simply not as good as others. We have to pass the time somehow... We took a different route to Mount Tzouhalem's Cross. We biked and hiked to Cees & Miep Hof Memorial Park Beach. We played tennis a few times. Lisa cycled and I ran. Despite the photo-documented smiles, it was another difficult month. We made our second trip up Mount Prevost. With temperatures reaching 25 degrees this month, we spent some enjoyable hours on the deck and in the yard. Without many other options, we appreciate the ability to walk in such a spectacular environment each day. Taking photos helps me to focus on the beauty around us. We received our first doses of the Pfizer Covid vaccine on the 21st. The following day we both experienced sore arms and headaches, but were fine by the 23rd. We continue to discover unique curios along our paths, including these painted rock tributes to familiar Mother Goose nursery rhymes. We walked in Lake Cowichan when there to sign paperwork at the notary. We were even able to have a masked visit at Deb's Hair Salon. Some dreary times were brightened by colourful flowers. My teams did not fair well this month. After the Canucks' season mercifully came to an end, the Oilers were immediately swept from the playoffs. The Warriors failed to play their way into the NBA playoffs. I watched some Blue Jays baseball and three UFC events. There weren't many new movies available this month. We still enjoy some television programs. I still love country music and have spent a lot of time with Niko Moon during the pandemic. We read. I continue to allow other members of "Cowichan Bay & Friends" to take sunrise photos, like this one by Julie Deschene, while I sleep in. We ended the month on a high note; on the 31st, the sale of our Honeymoon Bay home was officially completed and we were able to properly visit a friend, Debbie, in her home for the first time in 15 months! (Lisa even got her haircut after the same wait.)
