Ironically, as my mind continued to spiral and I was drowning in a pool of negativity, pain, anger, and self-doubt, my brain performance continued to be (very unofficially) scored as "advanced" and showed constant improvement. Upon arriving in Burnaby, Lisa and I walked in Central Park. The following morning, I walked in both Central Park and New West's Queen's Park. I was grateful that Michelle Ky was able to meet me on the 24th for a walk around Deer Lake while patiently listening to my woes. |
On the 25th, we played tennis and I ended up needing a doctor to confirm that I had badly strained my Achilles' tendon, but had not torn it. That evening I finally saw my parents for the first time in 11.5 months. The following day, I toured the Rumley's new estate and yapped with Shawn and Rob for a couple of hours. Driving to and from their place provided a trip down memory lane, as I passed the church I attended as a child, my high school, etc. Later I got to hang out with my nieces, have a Wiebe family dinner, watch hockey and drink beer with my dad, and then reminisce over ancient photos from the 1970s and '80s with my sister. |
I enjoyed pizza and ice cream with Karyn and Kyra on the 28th after having been thoroughly entertained by both of the day's Euros soccer matches. On the 29th, Lisa and I walked in Central Park in the morning and had dinner and drinks at Joan's in the evening. We also checked out the 8 bedroom / 8 bathroom home that was built to replace our old house next door. | We met Joan's new kittens: River & Jack. |
On the 30th, June cooked us dinner at her place and then Lisa and I went for a walk that included passing by the house of the "rhubarb guy" June had told us about. It turns out his name is Ravi and his wife is Sherry and they insisted that we join them for drinks on their front stoop. I guess this means that Covid-19 has officially been defeated! |
