This morning we went to Shibuya-ku, an area that offers a lot to tourists. Meiji-jingo is a fine example of a traditional Japanese shrine and the many straw-wrapped barrels of sake along the path to the shrine made for a nice backdrop. Altogether different is the nearby Harajuku area, where people-watching is the name of the game and alternative fashion rules. |
We checked out the views from the observation deck on the 45th floor of the Tokyo Metro Government Building. The statue shown is in the plaza at the bottom of the building (visible just above the statue in my collage). We ate at a local diner where customers order and pay for their meals using a vending-machine, then give their receipt directly to the cook who prepares the meal listed on the slip. We had beef on rice (which also came with miso soup). |
