After yet another night of rain, thunder, and lightning, we once again awoke to a warm, sunny day. We began the day by walking Vecsey around a wildlife sanctuary in Wheat Ridge, a suburb of Denver. We weren't quite sure how to proceed with exploring Denver's downtown with both a dog and an rv. As it turned out, luck was definitely on our side; we managed to parallel park at a meter that was right next to Larimer Square for only $1 per hour! Vecsey accompanied us on our self-guided walking tour of Denver's downtown area. We walked Larimer Square and 16th Street Mall. We sought out the Convention Centre with its iconic Blue Bear and the Mile High Capitol Building. We saw the Pepsi Centre and Sports Authority Field at Mile High from the roadways. We were impressed with the city, as we have been with all of Colorado. Moving to Colorado would provide no culture shock as it is very much like the Vancouver area - laidback, outdoorsy, and coffee obsessed. After visiting Denver, we drove south to Colorado Springs where we spent some time in a Starbucks. Lisa got creative this evening with our clothesline as we did laundry for the first time this trip. (Just 177 kilometres today.) |
